Abstract
Many theorists have studied translation methods and strategies for increasing and improving their quality. One of the theories proposed in this field is the theory of Gideon Touré, a professor of comparative literature and translation studies at Tel Aviv University. Within the framework of multi-system theory, he proposed criteria that can greatly reduce the difficulty of translating literary texts. Touré, in his discussion of the translation process, refers to three main standards: primary, operational, and introductory, and considers them to be the source of balance in translation. In this study, with a descriptive-analytical approach, parts of the translation of the novel "The Thief and the Club" by Najib Mahfouz, by Bahman Razani, have been criticized and examined from the perspective of descriptive studies of the translation process and relying on Gideon Touré's theory of norms. This approach, based on Gideon Touré's theory of norms and from the perspective of descriptive studies of the translation process, deals with the translation process itself. Touré's theory refers to the literary forms existing in each specific culture. Tori defines a range of translation that ranges from complete acceptance of the translation in the target language culture to complete adequacy at the level of the original text, and believes that translation always falls between these two extremes. The results of the study showed that the qualitative assessment of Razani's Persian translation has acceptance in the target culture and in most cases corresponds to Tori's three criteria and has few errors.
