Abstract

This research employs a qualitative method and the technique of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine the hypothesis that the Arabic-language media of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the level of word selection, operate within the narrative framework of the dominant Zionist discourse and reproduce it. By monitoring and analyzing field samples from the Al-Alam network and the IRNA news agency, instances of this narrative adoption were identified across the axes of: naming places, defining identities, and describing events. These instances were then compared with alternative vocabulary proposed by the author within the framework of the "Resistance Discourse."

The statistical population of this research consists of field samples from the IRNA news agency and the Al-Alam network. Data with semantic load suspected of reproducing the Zionist discourse were collected both randomly and purposively, and were subsequently compared with the alternative vocabulary proposed by the Resistance Discourse.

The findings indicate that the use of terms and narrative frameworks of the Zionist narrative, even within a critical context, leads to the normalization and reinforcement of the rival discourse's hegemony and creates a false symmetry between the occupier and the occupied. This research demonstrates that escaping this situation requires critical linguistic awareness and a transition from a passive position to active agency in the field of discourse engineering.

Finally, strategic solutions are offered at the macro, media, and educational levels to counter this phenomenon.
