Translation theories, through the articulation of specific strategies and frameworks, liberate translation criticism from impressionistic approaches, lending it a scientific and analytical character. One significant model in translation studies that analyzes translations through a classified set of strategies is the framework proposed by Joseph Malone. The present study examines the Arabic translation of Ismail Fasih's novel *Sorayya in a Coma* within this analytical model. Employing a descriptive-analytical method, this research investigates the strategies utilized in the Arabic rendition. The primary objectives are to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the translation in conveying the linguistic, cultural, and stylistic components of the source text, and to assess the translator's adherence to Malone's principles. Findings indicate that matching is the most frequently employed procedure, with extensive use of equalization and substitution to convey concepts and cultural elements. Furthermore, recreation and adaptation are other highly frequent strategies, reflecting efforts to balance source and target texts while ensuring effective meaning transfer. In contrast, rearrangement and bridging exhibit the lowest frequency. It can be concluded that the translator, adopting a predominantly audience-oriented approach, has largely succeeded in preserving the meaning and communicative function of the source text. However, in some instances, stylistic subtleties and cultural nuances have been diminished. Ultimately, this research constitutes a step toward expanding translation criticism methodologies and enhancing literary translation quality through applied theoretical frameworks.
