Abstract

Abstract Informational structure is one of the key concepts in modern linguistics that analyzes the relationship between the structure of sentences and the linguistic or extralinguistic contexts in which these sentences are used. In the field of informational structure, research focuses on the speaker's and hearer's mental states, information structure, and the communicative aspects of language. Concepts such as marked and unmarked structures are also discussed in this context. Given the importance of translating religious texts, translators must pay special attention to linguistic and extralinguistic structures, as well as the distribution of words in the translation process. The present study aims to investigate the adverbial clause, one of the most frequent structures in the Qur'an, in the translation of Surah Baqarah based on Lambrecht's theory of informational structure, using a descriptive-analytical method. The research question is as the marked and unmarked nature of the adverbial structure. This sometimes leads to the incorrect transmission of meaning and an unsatisfactory translation of the Qur'anic verses, which is often based on personal preference without considering linguistic issues and informational structure.
