Objective assessment of translation quality, moving beyond personal preference, necessitates the application of scientific and theoretical criteria to gauge the translator's success in conveying the message, fidelity to the source text, and creation of an acceptable target text. Given the significance of this matter in translation studies, a research study was conducted to analyze and evaluate the Arabic translation of the novel "Carriage Side" by Mortaza Karbalaeilou, translated into Arabic by Ahmad Heidari, based on Carmen Garcés's four-level model (1994). Employing a descriptive-analytical method and systematic literature review, this research identified the linguistic and cultural challenges in translating "Carriage Side," a novel whose exploration of social issues and complex narrative style makes it a demanding translation task. The quality of message transfer into the target language was subsequently analyzed. Findings indicated that the translation was generally satisfactory, with the translator creating a fluent and audience-oriented text by utilizing cultural equivalence, adaptation, and semantic expansion. The highest degree of congruence was observed at the semantic-lexical and morpho-syntactic levels, while greater alignment was felt necessary at the stylistic-pragmatic and discursive-functional levels. Overall, structural modifications were made to localize and facilitate comprehension for the Arabic reader, demonstrating the translator's successful approach in transferring the core concepts of the source text to the target audience.
