Metaphor has always been of interest to rhetoricians, literary scholars, and linguists. However, the main issue of this research is the translatability of metaphor and methods for its translation, and the challenge of translating Arabic metaphors into Persian; a challenge that, on the one hand, requires the translator to observe fidelity and loyalty to the metaphorical image of the source text, and on the other hand, must provide a fluent, natural, and comprehensible translation for the Persian-speaking reader. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical method, aims to investigate how the metaphors of the first ten prayers of Sahifa Sajjadiyyah are translated based on Peter Newmark's model (1988). The research data include the Arabic text of the metaphors and Garmarudi's Persian translation, which have been analyzed comparatively and based on Newmark's sevenfold model of metaphor translation (including reproduction of the image, replacement of the image, conversion to simile, conversion to explicit meaning, deletion, and combination of metaphor with meaning). The findings indicate that Garmarudi has predominantly utilized two of Newmark's methods in translating the metaphors of the first ten prayers: the first method (reproducing the same image in the target language) and the fifth method (converting metaphor to sense). In contrast, the method of "reproducing the same image plus sense" (the seventh method) had the least application, and the method of "deletion" (the sixth method) was not observed at all in Garmarudi's translation, reflecting his commitment to conveying all semantic components of the source text.
